…and regarding support for incompetence, I’d ask for any documentation to support the dementia diagnosis, ie Drs report, imaging reports with findings, etc.

I’m sure you’ve already investigated as to whether the family member with dementia has a living will/trust that may contain an AD, or some other designation as to who their trustee/trustors are?
If so, I would request a copy of the portions of the document that pertains to this situation, so I have that documentation in my records. Good job on doi…[Read more] -

Hello all,
My question is:
If I accept a client’s family that has a family member in advanced stages of dementia, should I be asking for legal paperwork of competency?
I know the payee is not my client. My allegiance is to the client.
Since I also will be working with severe intellectually disabled individuals, I know to look into the legal…[Read more] -

Hi Ashley,
I am curious if you’ve had a chance to review the denial from Oscar for this claim? Oscar is very specific regarding which labs and facilities they partner with as in network as probably already know.
Have you been able to get access to an explanation of benefits document?
I would also consider checking with Oscar directly if t…[Read more]

Hi Melanie,
Although I am not in California I have supported several California based individuals file these types of claims. They are typically completed through an online submission with the proper documentation in hand, and with the additional support of a licensed physician.I would be happy to connect with this individual and offer my…[Read more]

I have a client who switched insurance carriers through the Marketplace in January. A couple of months ago, she had her annual screening mammogram done at the same imaging center that she used last year. She provided her updated insurance information to the front desk and asked if they accepted her new insurance plan. They said yes, so she did the…[Read more]

What are your strengths? After completing the assessments, I learned that some of my greatest strengths are being a people person and a problem solver. These are two great qualities that a leader should have. I have all the strengths to be a great client/patient advocate.
What do you think your weaknesses are? (meaning – you hope/expect to get h…[Read more]

I’m in agreement with paying for your travel time. I think it’s important to remind yourself that you wouldn’t be spending that time in your car in the first place (1-2 hrs), if it weren’t for that client so why wouldn’t they be charged for the time? The only time I don’t charge is if it’s relatively local, around 20 minutes or less. For those…[Read more]

I would bill three hours. But I would have explained all of this to the client before doing it. I also discourage them from choosing this because of the expense. If, however, they desire it and I can spare the time, which is often not the case, I would do it.
For me, it is not desirable to travel to see clients. It usually requires that I put my…[Read more]

Has anyone had any experience with MDsave. I am trying to help someone find the cheapest option for a CT of chest with contrast. MDsave certainly seems to have the lowest price.
Thanks,

For those who bill travel time the same as regular time, what would you bill if it took you
2 hours for to and from travel, and you spent 1 hour or a little more with a patient and family in a hospital setting in a downtown metro area. -
