Hello Sarah,
I didn’t see a response to your question so I thought I would share my experience: My understanding is that I have a Registered Agent where my Business is and you can work with out of state clients and not have a license in each state because the place where your business is is what matters.
However, when I went to obtain my business…[Read more] -

I believe some advocates have chosen to take on that role but, ethically therefore; are not their advocate also. From my understanding there is a conflict of doing both for a client.
I found the article- Here is the link:Revisiting the Question: Advocate and Proxy, Too? Making Decisions for Clients
In the article it states: “If you are not…[Read more] -

Hello Michael,
I know when I’ve had similar obstacles, I make sure all communication is in writing and not phone calls because it gets shoved under the carpet. If things escalate and management is broken down, I usually file a grievance in the hospital or facility and if a family wants to go further I make them aware of CDPH grievances.
I a…[Read more] -

My thought is it doesn’t take six days to get a sensitivity back. It takes 72 hours. Not sure what the six day delay was also, since he has a history of liver disease, I would ask for an ammonia level to rule out other possibilities. ? Brain scan? Since this is not baseline, the ruling out should cover all until cause found in my opinion. Good l…[Read more]

Nice Deb. Congrats!
I have had a few clients that wanted a Concierge MD. I guess this explains the reason why it’s so difficult to get an appointment. My Dr of over 20 years retired because she did not feel she could care for her patients the way she felt she should.
Now I find myself with a doctor I was assigned to in the same office that d…[Read more] -

Hello Advocates,
I am trying to see if anyone has run into this obstacle. attend my client’s appointments in person. He is over an hour away; however, he has a Telehealth appointment coming up.
I contacted his doctor’s office and there response is that the Link only works in the client’s area.
I asked if he copied it to me would that work? She…[Read more] -

Hello,

Hi Sherri,
I was interested to find out also that Solace will be launching a new Community Healthcare Work category. Which people have to check to see if it is covered in their state and regulations. It will be Tele advocacy.
They will be launching nationally with Medicare services, and will be adding Medicaid support on a state-by-state basis.…[Read more] -

Thank you Schandelle, for sharing the rest of this story,
I agree. I do not think they will win. -The laws and ethics among other things are on the advocate and patient’s side. The patient was lucky to have them work so diligently with only their best interest at heart. This would be a great opportunity for the major advocacy organizations to r…[Read more] -

Good question Kathy, I guess it wouldn’t so much be subcontracting as, she does her part and I take care of my part ie; advocating with the transition of care and whatever advocacy the client feels she needs after our consultation

Trisha,
As I wrote the above. I said out loud – Let’s hope Trisha responds to this. Trisha, I am an open book and I would absolutely let clients know she works on commission. You taught me well and the Allegiance Factor is such a big part of who we are as advocates. Your suggestions give me other ways to consider my scenario. I appreciate your…[Read more] - Load More
