Sherri Miller replied to the topic Pricing question in the forum General Conversation 2 years, 4 months ago
I increased our rate in 2023 by 9% mainly because I hadn’t increased it at all since opening my business in 2018. We provide in-person services only in a defined area and do not charge for travel time or mileage so it was way past time to increase the rate!

Hello All!
Have any of you increased your rates in 2023 as a result of national/regional inflation? If so, did you increase your rate by 10%, 20%, or something else?

Hi – I had a marketing mentor who recommend Monisha Argawal. I believe she is in India. Her team is updating my website and digitizing all of my forms. So far I’ve been very pleased. You can negotiate the quotes but I believe it probably comes out to about $20 per hour. Here is her email: monisha@groacc.com

Hey Karen! What type of specialist are you looking for? I spent the last two and a half years traveling between FL and NM to help my mom with her chemo at Christus St. Vincent Cancer Center and Christus St. Vincent Medical Center. I’ve worked in healthcare 25+ years and was super impressed with the healthcare at those facilities.

Hi Sherri- Since I wrote the above- I decided to renegotiate with the company- Since my start up costs are getting a little hefty, I am going cancel 300/mth for SEO and take a class o hopefully learn it. It just isn’t in my budget. Let me know where you land because this has been a tough one for me. I think I am going to pay a web designer to…[Read more]

Angie – you’re right, the question has been asked before in a few different ways. You should be able to do a search for “POA” or “proxy” here in the discussion forum to find them.
The bottom line is this: your ethics as an independent patient advocate are very clear that you can never make decisions for your client – which, of course, is what a…[Read more]

Hi Sherri,
Great topic since I just got off the phone with a website consultant. They are ZOEK.
My experience: I designed my website through WIX. Long process but, easy to add what I needed and overall nice. So, now I consulted with ZOEK to tweak it and finish it up-and so far this is the breakdown for me

I think this question has been asked before, but I can’t find it. Can a patient advocate also serve as their client’s medial power of attorney? If their wishes are known and notarized wouldn’t I be stating what their wishes are if they are incapable? Is there a conflict of interest here or a separate contract?

Hi Karen.
I am from New Mexico. Although I agree that getting healthcare there can be challenging, it partially depends on where you are in NM. Where is your client located?

Anyone with recent experience (2022 or 2023) willing to share what you paid for someone to design and publish your website? My website is nowhere close to what I want it to be and it’s become very clear that I do not have the time nor talent to do the upgrade. It will be designed in Wix, which is what I am using now, so I am already paying for a…[Read more]

Marian – The office manager did not indicate how my driver’s license would be stored. However, the office was implementing a new EMR system, so I assume it would have been uploaded into my record.
Trisha – Thank you for the information about the Red Flag policy.

I too am in full agreement with Rick. His letter says it all. It is amazing how the most intelligent and sophisticated people I know fall for the red white and blue advertising all over tv. MA plans may be, in some cases, an option for someone who is on SSDI, with Medicare, and who can secure an MA plan. However, it often locks them into that…[Read more]

Hi there!
I just got back from Albuquerque, helping my daughter with her baby.
Yes, the health care in New Mexico is really lacking.
Many of the UNM clinics are backed up for months. (My grandson’s pediatrician wanted a cardiology consult because she thought she heard a heart murmur–and the pedi cardiology clinic was backed up till later this…[Read more]

Definitely going to ask for “Red Flags” ID theft policy!
And–I had an incident where the doctor’s office mixed up my insurance card with another patient (same health plan). When I went to get my card, it was someone else’s card! I told the office about the mixup & they said the other person had already left…
I had them call that person to…[Read more]
