In my prior experiences with telemedicine, there is only one connection between the physician / clinician & the patient, one link per encounter. If any assistance was present, the individual needed to be with the patient at their location.
While we’ve grown use to virtual meetings with multiple faces (Ie FaceTime, Zoom, Microsoft Teams e…[Read more]

Dr. Gaugler’s comment in the article that new challenges arise when a loved one moves to a type of long-term health care facility reflects my experience as a patient advocate who has had and still has clients in several assisted living or skilled-nursing facilities. I work with family members to resolve the variety of issues that come up, from…[Read more]

Hi Stephanie,
I am extremely grateful to be able to enroll in the program. For the past couple of years, I have been trying to obtain information about how to launch a Patient Advocacy Business. I obtained a business license and a tax id but I had no idea where to go from there. I have a few clients that I have provided free services to. I’ve…[Read more]

I had the same experience as Sherri. Mr. Wilson refuses to be up front about what he is asking for, and then gives a drawn out sales pitch where he walks you around their website. Ultimately what I FINALLY got him to was they want advocates to pay a few hundred dollars a year to be listed on their website resource directory page. The “guarantee”…[Read more]

This NYT article describes how caregiving changes – but does not stop – when a loved one goes into a care facility. Many people stop thinking of themselves as caregivers when their loved one moves into long term care (assisted living, memory care or a nursing home) and miss out on resources they could use. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/02/03/healt…[Read more]

My client’s policy with CNA states:
After a(n)… Alternate Care Facility stay of 90 days, including the Elimination Period, you do not have to pay any future premiums. It states that the waiver of premium generally does not apply when the client is receiving care in an individual residence.
My question is: How can I find out under what…[Read more]

I had the same experience. Sales pitchy and put off by my questions about the logistics. What I saw was a directory of people’s business cards that appeared to be the preferred/vetted businesses. It was first week of January and it seemed like 2024 marketing for something that might not be anything. I didn’t call the next day either.

Sorry just seeing this Jeff! You are correct, there are no PPO plans available for under 65s, I have an independent agent connection if you would like it. The network is the network with these plans – but there is always the possibility of gap exceptions or single case agreements if no-network care for essential health benefits is accessible in…[Read more]

I received a contact from someone seeking assistance for a client in El Paso TX who is acutely hospitalized and sounds complex enough that she needs an advocate onsite/at the bedside. If anybody is local to that area and available to help, please message me and I can pass the information along to help you connect.
Thanks! -

I am looking for insurance options for New York City residents that cover out of network. I have found nothing on the NY State of Health (NY Marketplace) that covers out of network.
Any suggestions for a PPO policy available to NYC residents?
