I am mortified by the administrator’s response that this is “normal”. One of the most important things we can do for our elderly clients is to ensure that the care team is well-informed about their baseline. On so many occasions, aging/elderly patients have acute mental status changes that are chalked up to “normal aging” when a detailed workup…[Read more]

Can NPs practice independently in your state (i.e., without physician oversight)? If not, a physician should be overseeing your patient’s care, but some physicians “oversee” more carefully than others. I would insist on evaluation by a physician . (Full disclosure: I am a physician). Many NPs do not have sufficient training to understand highl…[Read more]

Hello,
I have a 78 yr old patient in a SNF short term rehab. He has been in and out of the hospital since March for emergency gall bladder surgery, stent in liver and then diagnosed with end stage renal failure – he has been on dialysis since that time. No prior other major medical other than major deconditioning from back problems. It appears…[Read more] -

Hi Michelle!
You have good questions here and I am glad you are doing your due diligence looking into everything!I am familiar with Solace and I have been listed within their organization myself since its inception. Ah! That would have been amazing to see you there, Hyacinth!
I understand that it can be very difficult to make work. Unfortunately I am unaware of a virtual option. They did a few years ago but I am pretty certain it has gone 100% in person.
Put it into your business plan for next year!

@Katy – I totally feel your pain. I gave this reporter such a long saga about this. It was crazy. There were literally no PCPs accepting new patients in the health system in my metro area. I finally found a practice in Tier 2 of my insurance plan and got approval for them to be treated as Tier 1 since the plan has a network adequacy problem. I’ve…[Read more]

Nice Deb. Congrats!
I have had a few clients that wanted a Concierge MD. I guess this explains the reason why it’s so difficult to get an appointment. My Dr of over 20 years retired because she did not feel she could care for her patients the way she felt she should.
Now I find myself with a doctor I was assigned to in the same office that d…[Read more] -

Hi. I was finally able to connect with another advocate in my state. He was discussing his experience with Solace. It seems to a hub for people to find advocates but it is associated with insurance including Medicare. It sounded to me like he work in the CHA role when having these clients referred to him. He mixes this client base in with…[Read more]
