Hi, Katy. Yes, DHCS (CA Department of Health Care Services, the CA Medicaid agency) requires coverage of non-network providers in certain situations, including when the Medicaid-contracted network doesn’t have providers with the specialty expertise needed to treat the member’s condition. If the Medi-Cal patient lives in LA County, she will be a…[Read more]

Mary,
I have been working with a client for 1.5 years who is a cancer patient and lives near Santa Fe. Honestly, the talent is limited in that geography. He mostly gets his oncology care in CA as a result. Imaging and wrap around care is mostly done in NM.

Hi – are there any advocates practicing in the Albuquerque, NM area? I have a possible refer for a cancer patient who would like someone local to support him with healthcare service needs in that area.

Please check your listing and add your full address (at least your city/town, state, and zip code) to the…[Read more] -

Typing up some conversations would be helpful too 🙂 I’m just having a hard time getting a good flow of the process.

Sure!
That sounds like something that would be a good topic for our bonus session we have in December. If we have time at our upcoming November live session and if everyone is interested we could potentially run a scenario during that meeting.Or would you like to type up some conversations within our discussion forum? That would be an option as…[Read more]

Hi Steph,
Would it be possible to take us through a mock phone call from the initial contact to closing the case? My head is swimming with all of this information and what order it goes in. -

Thank you Laura… knowing first hand ( having a brother in law with Dementia and being his caretaker for 3 years) what a daunting task it is on my sister. She had no knowledge of the disease or what to expect and no real help from her children. Her patience was and still is limited, but helping her reach out to the Alzheimer’s association and…[Read more]

I think that kind of diagnosis is so hard on an individual and their family because as the disease progresses there is no way for the family to ask the individual what they want to do…[Read more]
