Trisha Torrey started the topic Heads UP – Problems with this site – or others? in the forum General Conversation 3 years, 5 months ago
I’ve heard from several members in the past couple of weeks who have been trying to find something we’ve published online – but couldn’t find it. The solution has always been the same thing. So it seems that if that many folks have been asking, it’s time to provide a heads up to everyone.
There have been recent changes to how websites – ALL…[Read more]

Sylvia Reisman replied to the topic Conversation with an Attorney- HIPAA in the forum General Conversation 3 years, 5 months ago
I just spoke to the owner of a HIPAA compliant software company and she gave me some examples of HIPAA non compliance.
Now I realize that I will need internal policies on changing passwords as well as having a client release form so that a family member or designated friend can legally discuss client health history and on going…[Read more] -

I just got off a call with a very knowledgeable attorney here in the Atlanta area whose practice is helping me. His expertise is HIPAA and technology law. His practice works mainly with new businesses.
I had also sent him 3 HIPAA forms to review but decided to wait since it may be out of my budget. He is going to get back to me later today and…[Read more] -

I think you’ve voiced a concern we all have regarding the new legislation. As an advocate specializing in managing medical bills, I don’t expect to start “seeing” much until at least Q2. This seems to be the lag between receiving treatment and seeking assistance with the subsequent bills. I expect we will all have some experience to share on…[Read more]

So sorry to hear this! My mother-in-law and sister-in-law passed away from small cell lung cancer–it was heartbreaking…
It sounds like she has non-small cell lung cancer which has many more treatments/protocols based on specific testing. Hoping that one of those treatments comes through for her!

I agree with Linda, most everything can be handled online and people can find your address in public records, especially when you register your business so my plan is not only provide it when asked and not include my home address on any documentation.

I am! I invested in Trisha’s Ethics course and Care Excellence Institute’s Exam Prep courses and have found them both extremely helpful in addition to my reading. Happy to connect and discuss.

Althea – I’ve never heard of a Trademark application being hacked. I have one in the workflow myself so I’m going to check. I’m so sorry that’s happened to you but I appreciate you sharing the information.

Thanks for the education. My sister is a lung cancer drug rep for Astra Zeneca and, she told me much the same thing. Our sister-in-law also has Parkinson’s and had a lot of testing this past year. I’m surprised no one thought to ask about her cough and weakness. Whatever cancer is in her body, wherever it started, is killing her, the doctors sug…[Read more]

My father was a 5 year, stage III pancreatic cancer survivor. When he was in “remission,”
he started experiencing pain between his right shoulder and neck.
His PCP told my father ( who was age 73) that he had tendonitis!! She knew his cancer history and he wasn’t playing tennis or golf at that time. Can we all say..DUH!! His cancer treatment was…[Read more] -

You’ll see this conversation is almost two months old…
And for two months I’ve been trying to find someone who considers him/herself an expert in Long Covid (including Patti’s suggestion above – The Body Politic) – hoping to set up an APHA Expert Call-in on the topic.
I think this is a great topic and would serve members well to hear about the…[Read more]

Hi Althea, a quick note since I worked in patient ed at MD Anderson Cancer Center. The lung cancer would have been the primary diagnosis. The liver and bone issues would have been metastasis from the lung cancer.
This is important in diagnosis as a tumor might develop at a distant site, say in the liver, but the biopsy would show…[Read more]

Zoom accounts have also been hacked recently. A friend saw her $15.99/month bill go to $1800! It was corrected by the company, but looks like hacking is happening everywhere!
Thanks, Linda for giving us a heads up!
