I’ve been looking at portable locking file boxes but so many of the reviews say the locks are worthless, so I was hoping someone might have a rec.

Hello Gail,
I agree, I don’t know your background either and your response was vague in nature. I went into the exam as a Professional Health Care Professional. It turned out much better than just as an Advocate. As a nurse told me, the exam doesn’t really test knowledge but rathjer how to handle various scenarios. -

Good morning folks!
Here’s a good article regarding a complaint bulletin that was released by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) discussing the volume and types of medical bill complaints reported last year.
I believe…[Read more]

It is my understanding you can use any locking file box when transporting records. You can lock it in your trunk. If you don’t have a trunk, you should make sure it is out of sight. (Please correct me if you have any conflicting info.) I would suggest getting the least expensive locking file box you can find!

The companies providing CCM under the Medicare program are not hiring RNs because the reimbursement rate from Medicare is too low to make their programs profitable when they have to pay RNs. In many cases, the CCM is being provided by Medical Assistants and CNAs. It comprises a 20 minute call each month (which includes call attempts that went…[Read more]

Thank you both for the replies. My son is older and so it’s a more complicated case. It looks like there are very few surgeons who will even review his case given his age.

Carolyn,
The PRP and Stem Cell treatments that my clients have undergone are both autologous, meaning they use your own biological material.
As for pricing, PRP is roughly one third the cost ($3.5K vs $10K) here in the NY area.
As an advocate, I feel that my job is to bring my clients the latest options and the pros and cons associated with…[Read more]

And we need to talk about researchers. There’s a VERY good book called “Rigor Mortis: How Sloppy Science Creates Worthless Cures, Crushes Hope and Wastes Billions” by Richard Harris.
This book echoed what I saw in the TX Med Center. We were always doing videos about the work researchers were working on. And they were busy trying to push their…[Read more]

I have been to many stem cell conferences at the James Baker Institute at Rice University (yes, that James Baker–the one in both Bush administrations.)
I also wrote and produced the allogeneic bone marrow stem cell transplant video for MD Anderson Cancer Center. So, I was fully immersed in stem cell data & relaying that to patients there.

There are many surgeons in the TX Med Center that do this surgery. I’m wondering if going to a larger medical center would have a surgeon in-network?
And many of the children in the clinics with the UT Med School saw neurologists who fitted them with those little helmets (and the parents would decorate them very cute!). I would definitely get a…[Read more]

I just know that I’ve been hired by people whose companies provided “chronic care management” with their employee benefits. The problem with those remote management groups is that they might have the general advice & guidance—they don’t have information on local doctors/hospitals. I can steer my clients to the right person/place b/c I worked…[Read more]

A few questions answered here:
1. If you are anywhere near Chicago, this is the year to come to ICOPA. It may be held in another city next year.
2. COVID – yes, we will be checking vaccinations and covid test results (for those who are not vaccinated) during registration. That means you’ll be as safe as you can be in the current…[Read more]

All – does anyone have experience with the chronic care management services Medicare covers? An acquaintance is coming to grips with several new, chronic conditions and wondering whether this service is worth pursuing? I know that – at best – it will not come close to the level of care management a professional patient advocate would provide.…[Read more]

I have experience with this diagnosis. Is there a confirmed fusion found on advanced imaging? MRI or CT scan? Is it just one area? As a chiropractor I specialized in pediatrics and completed the Upledger CranioSacral technique on thousands of kids. Two were referred for surgery with both of them doing extremely well afterwards. Does anyone have a recommendation for a secure locking portable file box? I’ve been down the rabbit hole looking for something I can take paper documents in when traveling (by car). Thanks!
