If they have all those constraints, I would tell them that for safety reasons, I’ll be bringing another person with me. Hopefully that’s an option for you. If you need to pay that person, let the client know that the expense will be invoiced to them.

Seems like a good idea. I’ll be interested to hear what others think. The only thing I’ll say is that my clients’ needs really fluctuate, so sometimes I feel overwhelmed and sometimes I’ve got almost nothing to do. I typically have 10-12 clients.

Mine is an addendum to the contract with the Guarantor signs. All else is the same, as AnnMarie mentioned above. No disclosure w/o client permission of course. Let everyone know all that in the discovery phase.

Cheryl Kauffman, PT, BCPA replied to the topic Acute vs Subacute Rehab in the forum +ADL Forum: Directory Listed APHA Members Only 6 months ago
Kathy, I just reread your original post. This person is essentially quadriplegic? Acute rehab should have had a strong focus on wheelchair prescription and patient/family education for how to care for him at home. Did that happen? Is his support system strong enough to care for him at home? Did he also suffer a brain injury? That can really…[Read more]

Hi Kathy,
I used to work in acute rehab. When I was in that field, 7.5 weeks would have been a pretty typical LOS. From what I hear now, stays are much, much shorter so I’m pleased your client got that much time. Did he plateau in his progress? Generally admission to acute rehab requires that the patient has a solid plan for discharge HOME (not…[Read more]

11. Put an auto respond on the email account.
12. Change outgoing voice mail message -

Bonnie, I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. That sounds like such a difficult situation for everyone involved.
Here’s what I’ve got so far, with specific pointers in the document I’ll leave with my important papers.
1. Notify clients.
2. Notify local advocates.
3. Notify subcontractors.
4. Notify the directories.
5. Edit/delete website as…[Read more] -

Hi, I was chatting with a neighbor who has a counseling practice and she was telling me that writing her Professional Will is on her to-do list. I had never heard of such a thing. I have given my spouse some instructions on where he would find my client contacts should something happen to me.
What do you have in place to ensure your clients are…[Read more]

Rebecca, I looked it up yesterday. $1068 for the first year for one user. A little less after that because there’s a $200 start fee. That’s assuming that what I found was current.

Hi everyone,
I didn’t find this topic on a search of the forum (though I think I may have asked before…what terms did I use?!). I’ve been contacted numerous times, and again recently, by folks who’d like to have me ‘in their pocket’ for future needs. How have you handled this? The most recent contact was w/ a former colleague who would like…[Read more]

Hi everyone, I was contacted by someone in Alaska who needs help coordinating his various benefits. It’s definitely not in my wheelhouse so I told him I’d reach out to the group. If you feel you can help him, please contact me and I’ll give you his info.
Thanks!
Cheryl

PT here. It’s also vitally important that therapists write very customized goals. Sure, we like to write simple goals about decreasing assistance required and increased activity tolerance (can walk 300′ now vs 50′ when they arrived), but there are so many other goals as well:
–can the person learn to direct their care?
–family training

I’ve been looking at portable locking file boxes but so many of the reviews say the locks are worthless, so I was hoping someone might have a rec.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a secure locking portable file box? I’ve been down the rabbit hole looking for something I can take paper documents in when traveling (by car). Thanks!
