Hi Rebecca!
Good catch! The reason you can’t find it is because the Advoconnection has been changed with the new leadership. The directory is now through Umbra Health Advocacy. Unfortunately there is no longer a link to a list but I will see what I can find to share 🙂

Thank you for sharing! Those are great strengths to bring to your advocacy business!
We will cover networking throughout the course, building relationships will come with your networking and takes time but then can form into great referral sources for you. I am not sure we will help much with risk taking but hopefully you will feel like some…[Read more]

Wow, Marilyn! You have done some fantastic work!
It sounds like you are really doing your due diligence in making sure you are checking all of the appropriate boxes in building your new business.

This is a common question!
Knowing how many clients to take on is hard to know ahead of time. There are a number of factors that you will need to consider. Things such as, how much time you have available, the hours you want to work, and the type of work you are choosing to do. Then as you begin to meet prospective clients, some will have higher…[Read more]

I rebooted my computer twice and now the sound is working. I can’t explain what happened.
Sorry for the unneccessary question.
Have a good weekend everyone!

Hi,
The second lesson released this week was the Intro & History of Advocacy Ethics. After logging in to the Practice Up Dashboard, I found that the sound on the ethics videos was not working. I did not have my mute button on. Is anyone else having this issue?I have a new computer with a great internet connection. I’ve been able to hear all…[Read more]

How do you determine the number of clients you expect to have as a beginning health advocate when you are unclear of the amount of time it will take to help each client?

This assignment was a bit more complicated for me because I’ve started my patient advocacy business at age 69. My name is very well known in my community after owning a successful orthopedic massage therapy business for 25+ years. So far, I’ve been hired as an advocate by former massage clients.
Although Trisha Torrey doesn’t recommend…[Read more]

Hi Stephanie,
I was wondering if you know of any additional resources more on the side of actual practice rather than business and marketing that you might be able to share if I think that even after this course I might not have the confidence to open up my own practice immediately? I’ve already completed the patient advocacy bootcamp, signed up…[Read more]

Hi,
I noticed in the video in lesson three there was a mention of a link to Advoconnect where you could view a list of common possible advocacy services. But I can’t seem to find this link. Can you please post it?
Thanks,

My key strengths include building relationships, challenging the status quo, and demonstrating flexibility with a side of tenacity. My areas for growth are looking at things through an entrepreneurial lens (20 + years in corporate America) and definitely marketing. I’m an introvert by nature, so networking doesn’t come naturally for me, but I’m…[Read more]

I feel my strengths are my people skills, as well as my (limited) understanding of the healthcare system. I have interacted with people from all walks of life. I may get called to a multi-million dollar mansion, and the next call may take me to a tent in the middle of the woods for a “frequent flyer.” I pride myself on being able to connect with…[Read more]

Good point, Marilyn. Size is definitely important! Given that I’m only 42, I actually hope to grow my business to the point that I can eventually hire one or two other individuals with health issues for part-time work to help give them income to stave off SSI disability or supplement it. And if it works out well, I would hope to sell my employees…[Read more]
