Hi Linda, sorry for the late response. I had settled three ambulance bills and one life flight bill for a significantly reduced amount. This was for three different patients under one carrier that had stopped coverage.

I’m searching for a direct, weight-neutral/inclusive PCP on behalf of my client in Michigan. They are seeking someone who is versed in or at least collaborative and concerned with SDoH enough to learn about weight-neutral/inclusive care. They’re hoping for a direct care or concierge model, since their needs are complex and would greatly benefit…[Read more]

My strength is I ran a successful large chiropractic business business. I was always business minded, people minded and successful with claims and billing systems. I, also have had multiple illnesses where I was my own navigational advocate. All this has led me to this profession to help others get through the system that I know so well.…[Read more]

Hi all! Hope you are well!
Stephanie – For the action plan for Sandy, did you modify the number of hours you quoted them when they first declined options 10 and 11? I am also curious if you ever present baseline (for lack of a better term must do) actions and then optional add-on actions based on the situation.
I just found the schedule of Q…[Read more]

My strengths are empathy, public speaking, networking and handling challenging conversations. I hope to gain a better understanding of how to price my business and assessment of my efforts. Overall I need to gain confidence in how to market myself and the value I can provide to people outside my family.

Hi Stephanie and fellow coursemates!
I know Stephanie said not to take the quiz in the courses now if we are sitting for the BCPA exam in March. Does that apply to only the quiz at the end or also to a quiz that is at the beginning or middle of a section?
For example, there is a quiz after the first lesson in Financial Basics. You can’t move on…[Read more]

Welcome, Michele!
Yes! I love your statement about life-long learners, so true!
I also get the silent observer personality because that is my natural personality too, I am way more introverted 🙂 Thank you for your introduction, I look forward to getting to know you more!
Thanks,

Sharon,
Your strengths and experiences will suit you well and you are in the right place to work on your goals! You will get a lot of material regarding marketing and networking opportunities and through our discussions it is helpful to hear what has worked and not worked for others.
Thank you for posting your self assessment!

My strengths include my extensive experience, genuine interest in helping others, and my ability to thrive on challenges. However, I recognize that I have weaknesses in the business aspects, particularly in marketing, and I sometimes struggle with consistency and attention to detail, which can be critical at times.

Linda, being this was an emergency, this should be paid as in network. No one has time to try to find an in network provider in an urgent, emergency situation so I would fight for that. I’m sure you can get documentation to show the urgent need.

Linda, as you undoubtedly know, ambulance bills were not included in the No Surprises Act. I have been able to negotiate ambulance bills down with other providers by sharing the Medicare rate for the same trip (distance, medical needs, etc.).
Also, were there ambulance services that are in network in her geography? If so, did they have capacity…[Read more]

Has anyone been successful in negotiating a settlement with AMR for an out-of-network bill? If so, please give suggestions.
My client was transferred from an ER to another hospital in the same hospital network for urgent neurosurgery. No one checked and informed her that AMR was not in her UHC network. Her bill is $4000.

Hello! Does anyone have expertise in the Texas Marketplace here? I got an inquiry from someone who’s looking for their adult son and has some questions. Not sure if it’s a client opportunity or could be, but if you have this expertise and are open to an intro, please let me know.
Thanks

Thanks for linking the article, Trisha. I’m a Medicare advocate (I solely practice in the field of Medicare, for which I’ve been in for 35 years, including 20 years with CMS, the Federal agency that runs the Medicare program), and it is a HUGE problem in Medicare Advantage (MA) plans. While at CMS, I was responsible for conducting operational…[Read more]
