These are very painful – I can’t believe they would suggest nothing for an 86 year old. Ask if they can do a paracervical block, the medicine numbs the area and eases pain.

There are vaginal numbing gels she may be able to get a prescription for. I had helped someone with a similar situation. We asked again, and he wrote it for something she used before the procedure.

I am curious about the specialties of the two physicians and what other work up has been done. I would anticipate having intra-abdominal fluid with no other abnormalities on imaging or labs would be uncommon.

Doctors have a long history of minimizing women’s pain, particularly in the reproductive anatomy. Thus, I would not recommend without anesthesia. If she is not suffering from dementia, she will most likely be fine with the anesthesia based on what I observed with an 87 year old client in CA who had endometrial cancer and required two biopsies.

I charge 33% more for in-person services w/ <24 hour notice, 8a-8p and 50% more 8p-8a. BTW, I don’t provide transportation for clients as I feel it’s too much liability. I’ll meet them at home and travel with them or meet them at the care site.
