I have found that many clients would rather text or email information rather than deal with a portal. By the time they get to me, they are tired of jumping through hoops.
Portability, the “P” in HIPAA seems to be the overlooked part of that regulation that often seems to have made things way more difficult than they should be.
I offer the choice…[Read more]

Hi Jill – Thanks for this question. Technically, we are not governed by HIPAA because we aren’t considered covered entities, but yes, we agree that you should act in accordance with HIPAA protections. On the Umbra Health Advocacy side, we use Healthie as a secure, HIPAA-compliant practice management system. It is great for securely sharing…[Read more]

Hi Jill – when I had my own practice, I had a Google workspace account, which was HIPAA compliant. I signed a Business Associate Agreement with Google to protect PHI and maintain HIPAA compliance. You can read more about that here: https://support.google.com/a/answer/3407054?hl=en

Hello all,
I am launching my Patient Advocate business and am in the process of setting up the final touches. I am a Physician Assistant and have worked in the medical field for over 25 years. Medical and personal privacy is of course important to Clients, and I was wondering how others are navigating this. I have planned to use a dedicated…[Read more] -

These are very painful – I can’t believe they would suggest nothing for an 86 year old. Ask if they can do a paracervical block, the medicine numbs the area and eases pain.

Hello,
There are vaginal numbing gels she may be able to get a prescription for. I had helped someone with a similar situation. We asked again, and he wrote it for something she used before the procedure.
Best Regards,

I am curious about the specialties of the two physicians and what other work up has been done. I would anticipate having intra-abdominal fluid with no other abnormalities on imaging or labs would be uncommon.

Hi Nicky,
I too used Care Excellence; it was very helpful. I see that there is now more info available from the PACB including study materials and a practice quiz.
Hope this helps!

Good evening! We have had an advocate join Outreach, and we are so excited. She is going to take the BCPA exam in March. When I took the exam, I used the Care Excellence program which was such a great study course. Is there a study course you would recommend? If not, what other things, books, presentations, podcasts, study groups, etc… that…[Read more]

Thank you for the feedback Cheryl! I like the idea of the 33% and then 50% with overnight and weekend hours. I really appreciate it. Thank you! Hope business is going well for you.

All points above are valid and should be considered.
If she has fluid buildup it’s likely in the cul de sac and they would use a needle to aspirate some by going through the upper vaginal wall into that area. If they aren’t lucky they may have to approach laparoscopically through the abdominal wall. Might not be worse than an endometrial biopsy,…[Read more]
