Hi, I have a client who I’ve discovered has a mental health issue of some delusional disorder or psychosis. She is functioning so it’s hard to notice unless you ask her specific questions.
She wants me to help her with a situation but most of the information she has shared with me is based on untruths so I can’t research the information. I do…[Read more]

Hi, I’m waiting to get my website up and running so I’m not eligible for the ADL membership as of yet but I do have an active Facebook page where people can book appts.
I saw from the APHA Agenda sent today there is a list of people needing advocates, some in Ohio where I live. Do I need to wait until I have my website in place before I can…[Read more]

I can contact the reporter as well. I worked with UM at UHC for some time….if it’s not a covered benefit, the plan can decide to add it and if they have stop loss coverage then they may be willing to do that. I can make some suggestions if this person is interested.

Bonnie, we are living in some interesting times! Good thing we advocates are all about “going with the flow” to get patients what they need when they need it, right???
Thanks so much for sharing!

As an advocate who has used the press to help move the needle on cases, I appreciate the interest in this story. At the same time, there are red flags that we have to be aware of.
In my experience while a peer to peer review can be helpful when there is some clinical detail that was missed when a less sophisticated reviewer handled the claim, 7…[Read more]

Hello everyone, I am excited to be here with all of you! I just started my patient advocacy business in March after quitting my corporate job and did some soul searching on what I wanted to be when I grew up at the age of 56 🙂
I am thrilled with my decision to start KTS Advocacy…..”Expert guidance, Walking in your shoes with you”. I am a…[Read more]

My two cents … The first thing to try is a peer to peer conversation about this device and why it is needed. The problem is that there may not be a qualified peer working for the insurance company. The article mentioned that he has passed out after going to the bathroom. The first question that hopefully has been addressed is why. Does his…[Read more]

I saw that story yesterday and felt heart broken for this man.
Anthem is notorious for their denials.
I wonder if Jennifer Castner in north Georgia might be able to help.

I wonder if any of you miracle workers – together or individually – think you could overcome these denials?
If so – raise your hand here and be sure you can touch base with others…[Read more]

Mechelle,
I have a long-standing client with GBS (a neurological condition) who is moving to Wisconsin and I completed all the paperwork at Mayo for her to be seen there. What they told us was not a denial, but a waitlist.
Maybe in a world of high demand, insurance, severity of condition, and medical record notes that could be perceived as…[Read more]

Thank you so much for sharing this story. Wow! It’s amazingly frustrating on behalf of the patient and family. I have a colleague who’s been working on an advocacy (e.g., policy advocacy) effort to improve access to care for Sickle Cell patients. We talked about potentially collaborating if we had advocates who could speak to the impact/issues and…[Read more]
