One of the key duties of an advocate is to document their activities so they can bill correctly, but more importantly, have a record of their work to show the value they bring to the patient/client, the healthcare team, and others who may need their services. Good documentation can provide data that you can use in your marketing materials and to support the value you bring to your patients/clients.
It can also be your best defense if you are called into a court of law, your professional board or the certification board on a complaint.
